In this, the land of the living,
everything is inevitably dying.
I was lead to believe
that part of the reason for our being
is to leave a legacy of a better quality of life
for the next generation.
Renewal rather than extinction.
We’re at odds with ourselves
about the concept of self-preservation,
and so it seems human nature cannot sustain
the act of conservation
and so we stay in the familiar course of endangerment
and bypass altruism.
I am uncertain if Mother nature will continue to be so forgiving.

There is an owl outside my window, it has been a few months since I last heard him. He sounds as though he is weeping for mother nature as the rain starts to fall like tears.

This is one of the most important challenges of our time, of our species, maybe even the most important. I don’t know what will happen. But you have stirred my heart and mind with this uncertainty, and my response is turning into a blog post. Thank your for bringing this challenge to us, Harlon.

Thanks Joanne, and I have so much respect for you, for going beyond the response that it stirred with your heart (which I thank you for sharing and which touched me) and for taking that extra step; your individual act of making an expression about your uncertainty about the future of this planet. I think that is how change begins 🙂 Peace, Harlon

I think that’s perfectly acceptable, let’s file that under “self-care” 🙂

I agree with Tony Single (above). I don’t think She will either. It’s in her job description.

It is a very daunting thought, dear Harlon. One that I believe the human race as a whole would do well to ponder. Your words speak very deeply to me. Blessings my friend ❤
