Everyone is talking about refugees and immigration
and that’s good to have that conversation.
And as we talk amongst ourselves,
we can also tak about something else.
I think people are forgetting
that charity begins at home
and there are people here
struggling to survive with a debilitating disease or a chronic condition.
Some have mental illness, some are homeless
some live in poverty
and we just need accommodation.
I am only seeing middle-class policy
and a lack of philanthropy
from the corporation.
Everyone wants a slice of the pie
but that’s not sustainable.
We have lived here all our lives,
we are willing
but not always able
and I don’t feel there’s any room for me at the table.
