Solemnly Swearing

solemnly

Just the other day, I overheard myself say to myself,

“how are you going to fuck this up?”

So then I said to myself,

“that’s rude, would you talk to other people that way?”

“Were you raised in a barn?”

And then, without saying anything to anyone, including myself

I discovered a moment of awareness,

you know the type that comes when you touch upon difficult stuff.

I no longer have to be the phoenix with nine lives that keeps rebuilding himself from the ashes so that the tenth one is free.

“So Harlon, if you are listening to this right now, don’t talk to yourself that way.”

“Mind your manners and explore self-compassion playfully.”

    • Thanks Lorrie, I think me and “the other self” are not speaking to each other anymore. It was a mutual breakup 🙂 Thank you for the comforting words and also thinking pleasant thoughts about you. Hugs, Harlon

  1. “You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection,” is a quote attributed to Buddha. Whoever said it must know people like us need to here it.
