I stand
and look
in the mirror
and I say to myself
“I’m better than you”.
I step back
still looking
in the mirror
and I hear myself
saying
“you’re no better than me”.
I turn around
I walk away
I close my eyes
and think to myself
“I wish I was somewhere else”
“I wish I was somebody else”
yet here I am standing still
a better me,
no better than you.
Beautiful. We all have society telling us to be better, be greater. But we already are better and greater if we choose to see the light already in us. Keep smiling.

Lois Landslide standing still. Sending you my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Mary Tyler Moore. My thoughts are often with you. – An old friend.

I have been thinking of you, unusually often the last few weeks and in particular today, remember, Love Is All Around 🙂 More to follow.

Well, we grow when we challenge ourselves so maybe you’re both right 😉
Beautiful words.

Thanks for that pearl of truth, Harlon. We become better people when we can meet face to face with another person and accept that we’re equal. As you express it so well: [I’m] a better me, / no better than you.

No better than you yet better than you think you are. That’s all of us. Well put.

I love this: no better than and yet no worse either. We all inhabit the middle ground.
